Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree plus eight years’ experience evaluating energy-efficiency programs or a Master’s degree plus five years’ experience evaluating energy-efficiency programs. We prefer candidates with degrees in engineering, environmental science, environmental policy, economics, sociology, or other social science.

Successful employees work collaboratively with other team members and require minimal oversight; they will have opportunities for advancement in this growing company and field.

Job responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Managing process and impact evaluations and market effect studies for utility and regulatory clients, from planning and budgeting to delivering the final study reports
  • Overseeing other team members working on the same projects
  • Communicating and collaborating with colleagues, partners and clients
  • Developing and implementing data collection activities such as surveys, in-depth interviews, focus groups, and on-site or virtual verifications
  • Designing statistical samples and performing tests of statistical significance
  • Conducting analyses to estimate energy savings

NMR is currently seeking candidates for a Research Intern during the spring of 2024. We are a small but expanding consulting firm specializing in the evaluation of energy efficiency and renewable energy programs.

Applicants should possess strong writing skills, organizational ability, and computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Word and Excel. We are looking for applicants who think critically and creatively, take initiative, and are not afraid to ask questions. The ideal candidate will contribute to our culture of teamwork and employee ownership by sharing knowledge freely and offering their unique perspective. An interest in energy efficiency and/or program evaluation is highly valued.

Primary responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supporting energy market research and evaluation tasks
  • Performing quantitative and qualitative data analysis and entry

This paid internship ($20/hour) offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in energy efficiency program evaluation. The intern will be expected to commit to 20 hours per week from January 8 – May 15, 2024.

At times, these onsite audits can be physically and mentally taxing.
