Betty Tolkin
Senior Project Manager
Betty came to NMR in 2002 after working for an electric utility, the NEES Companies, later National Grid USA, for 12 years in the area of energy efficiency program evaluation. She has extensive experience in commercial/industrial and residential survey development and administration as well as in-depth interviewing of key actors in various energy efficiency and renewables markets. She is the project manager for NMR’s multi-year evaluation contract for the Massachusetts ENERGY STAR Homes Program. As such, her recent work focuses on efficiency issues relating to residential new construction, multifamily developments, home buyer awareness and choices, non-energy impacts, and builder motivations and practices. She holds an MBA from Boston University.
When she is not assessing how effective programs are, Betty is the ultimate "Speech and Debate" Mom. With one teen-age son competing in extemporaneous speech and the other in debate, she has traveled the US as a tournament judge and all-around cheerleader.
